Tessa Smith has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. TESSA is currently working as a Communications Associate Principal at Via, starting in November 2021. Prior to that, from 2020 to 2022, they worked as a Social Media Content Writer for the New York Urban League Young Professionals Communications Committee. Tessa also has experience working at the New York City Law Department, where they held multiple roles including Legal Services Communicator, Claims Writer, and E-Newsletter Contributing Writer between 2006 and 2021. In 2019, they served as the Lead Organizer for TEDxWakefield, where they developed a communications plan, organized the event, and secured media placement. Tessa's previous experience also includes working as a Writing Consultant, Writer, and Editor for Artsmith, Inc. from 2015 to 2020, and as an Assistant Editor for The Basic Writing e-Journal in 2014. TESSA began their career as a Journalism Intern for the National Newspaper Publishers Association in 2005.

Tessa Smith holds a Bachelor's Degree in Print Journalism from Howard University and a Master's Degree in English Literacy Studies from The City College of New York.
