Dr. Georg Thomas has a diverse work experience in various roles related to data governance, cyber security, risk management, and compliance. Dr. Georg currently works as the Head of Data & Cyber Governance at Vicinity Centres. Previously, they have held positions such as Director at xGRC®, Senior Manager at Deloitte Australia, National Security & Risk Manager at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, and Experienced Manager at Grant Thornton LLP. Their expertise includes internal auditing, ISO certifications, supply-chain cyber risk management, and security program design and implementation. Dr. Georg has also served as an Adjunct Lecturer at Charles Sturt University and has held IT management roles at Hall & Wilcox and Dimension Data.
Dr. Georg Thomas has a diverse education history. Dr. Georg holds a Graduate Certificate of Higher Education in Learning & Teaching from Deakin University. Dr. Georg also obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Information Technology from Charles Sturt University, where they later earned a Master of Management degree in Information Technology. Additionally, Dr. Thomas completed a Bachelor of Information Technology (BInfoTech) at Charles Sturt University and studied International Business at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Dr. Georg has also pursued various certifications, including those in quality management systems, data privacy, information security, and IT service management. Dr. Thomas has further developed their knowledge through courses at Harvard Business School and Harvard Business School Online, specializing in disruptive strategy and economics for managers, financial accounting, and analytics, respectively.
