Shao-Yi Tan

Shao-Yi Tan has over 20 years of work experience in the telecommunications industry. Shao-Yi started their career as an Engineering Assistant at Pacnet, where they gained experience in designing and developing CRM, workflow, and network monitoring systems. Shao-Yi then joined Salesforce.com as a Senior Operations Service Centre Engineer, focusing on streamlining operational processes and ensuring performance and stability in a high transaction volume environment.

Shao-Yi later became the General Manager of Moratel International, where they were responsible for both administrative and technical operations of the company. Shao-Yi managed the day-to-day operations of the company, including bid management, marketing, and vendor management, as well as overseeing the implementation of DWDM, SDH, and IP systems.

Afterwards, Shao-Yi worked as the Assistant Director of Infrastructure and Networks at SP Telecommunications, where they designed and rolled out the company's optical fibre and DWDM network. Shao-Yi also built and managed the 24/7 Network Operations Centre and established a service delivery team to ensure timely and accurate customer orders.

Currently, Shao-Yi is the Head of Optical Transport Network at ViewQwest Pte Ltd. Shao-Yi designed and operates the company's broadband DWDM transport network, extending its access to enterprise and wholesale customers. Shao-Yi also plays a pivotal role in the acquisition of sites and data centre space to expand ViewQwest's network coverage in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Shao-Yi Tan completed a Master of Science (MS) in Applied Economics from Singapore Management University from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, from 2007 to 2009, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the National University of Singapore. Shao-Yi also holds a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems (Hons.) from the National University of Singapore, which they received from 2001 to 2004. Shao-Yi'seducation history commenced with a Diploma in Information Technology from Temasek Polytechnic, which they completed from 1996 to 1999.
