Michael Smith began their work experience in 2008 as an Electronics Technician Program Manager for the U.S. Army. Michael worked in this role until September 2020. In 2020, they joined Vectrus as a Requirement Mission Manager, and in 2021, they started working at VIGILINT as a Deputy Program Manager.

Michael Smith's education history begins in 2009 when they attended Cochise College for two years, earning an Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Maintenance and Repair Technology. Following this, from 2011 to 2012, they returned to Cochise College and obtained an Associate's Degree in Military Intelligence, Command Control and Information Operations. In 2013, Smith enrolled at American Military University and completed a Bachelor's Degree in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies in 2017.

In addition to their academic achievements, Smith obtained several certifications. In February 2011, they received the GMDSS Radio Maintainer's License, General Radiotelephone Operator License, and Master of Communications Technology from the Federal Communications Commission.
