Alana Jelonen

Senior Product/service Designer at Vincit

Alana Jelonen has extensive work experience in various design roles. Alana started their career as an Interior Designer at HHM Corp. in 2008, where they designed the office space for a game company. From 2004 to 2009, they worked on shorter projects for different companies, including product design and UI design.

In 2009, Alana joined Marimekko as a Marketing Communications Assistant, responsible for network communications and content management. Alana later interned in the Marketing team, where they assisted with website content management, marketing activities, and store displays.

From 2010 to 2012, Alana worked as a Visual Designer at HiQ Finland, focusing on design projects for various platforms. Alana also contributed to internal marketing activities and designed logos and marketing materials.

In 2012, they were promoted to the position of Senior Visual and UX Designer at HiQ, working on digital product development projects and collaborating with service designers. Alana handled web design renewals, user research, and prototyping for clients like Laurea, SOK, and Orion Pharma.

Alana joined HiQ again in 2014 as a User experience/User Interface Designer, providing design consultancy services for different companies. Their responsibilities included concept design, user interviews, user flows, UI design, and visual design.

In 2016, Alana became a Digital Art Director - Design Innovation Studio at HiQ, where they focused on product design and development projects. Alana also contributed to the digitalization of Sato's services in the Omasato project.

In 2018, Alana joined Nitor as a Senior Designer, where they worked on product design and development for MTV3 Katsomo. Their responsibilities included designing for various platforms and collaborating with the news studio and digital services team.

Most recently, Alana started working at Motley Agency in 2022 as a Senior Designer before joining Vincit as a Senior Product Designer later that year.

Alana Jelonen's education history is as follows:

Between 2004 and 2007, Alana attended the University of Lapland, where they obtained a Bachelor of Art & Design degree in Industrial Design.

In 2009, Alana pursued further education at the Royal Danish Academy, focusing on Industrial Design, Graphic Design, and Product Development. During the same year, they also participated in an extensive multidisciplinary product design project at the Copenhagen Business School, emphasizing Integrated/Holistic design.

In 2010, Alana returned to the University of Lapland and earned a Master of Art and Design Studies degree in Industrial and Product Design.

In 2019, Alana pursued a UX Master Certification (UXMC) in Design Leadership at the Nielsen Norman Group (NN/g).

In 2020, they attended short studies in Digital Transformation, Leadership & Innovation Management at the International Business Management Institute (IBMI).

Alana further enhanced their skills in 2021 by obtaining a Master UX Certificate with recognition in UX Management & Interaction Design from the Nielsen Norman Group.

In 2022, they attended IDEO University to study leadership and obtained certifications in "Leading for Creativity" and "Cultivating Creative Collaboration" from IDEO.

Currently, Alana is undertaking Reaktor leadership training in Team Leading.

In terms of additional certifications, Alana is a certified SAFe® 4 Agilist, having completed the certification from Scaled Agile, Inc. in 2018.
