Neil Desai

Executive Vice President, Technology at Viral Nation

Neil Desai has had a diverse and extensive work experience. Neil currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Technology at Viral Nation, where they focus on commercializing the company's technology solutions with enterprise and government clients. Prior to this, they held positions such as Director on the Board of Directors at both The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and Innovation Asset Collective, as well as Independent Director on the Board of Directors at ClearRisk Inc. From 2014 to 2023, Neil worked at Magnet Forensics, initially as a Director of Corporate Affairs and later as Vice President of Corporate Affairs. During their time at Magnet Forensics, they were involved in the development of cyber-investigation solutions used globally by various organizations. Before that, Neil served as the Chief of Staff at Global Affairs Canada, where they provided strategic advice on policy and other priorities. Additionally, they worked as the Director at the University of Toronto - Munk School of Global Affairs, leading research projects and training workshops for students. Neil began their career as a Manager in the Office of the Prime Minister, where they provided strategic advice on foreign affairs and competitiveness.

Neil Desai, ICD.D has a diverse educational background. Neil obtained their BA (Hon) in International Political Economy from Carleton University in 2004. In 2005, they pursued further studies at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where they earned their MSc in International Political Economy. In 2021, Neil completed the Innovation Governance Program - Level 1 from the Innovation Governance Program. The following year, in 2022, they attended the Directors Education Program (DEP) at the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management. Neil also holds the Institute of Corporate Directors Designation (ICD.D) from the Institute of Corporate Directors, obtained in 2022.
