Alex Oppes

Alex Oppes has a diverse work experience spanning over 17 years. Currently, they serve as an Investment Director at Virescent Ventures, a prominent Australian climate tech investor. Prior to this, they held the role of Director, Impact Investing at Social Ventures Australia, where they managed various impact investment funds and initiatives. They also served as the Founding Director of Vanguard Laundry. Alex began their career as a Principal Consultant at a Freelance Strategy Consultant, followed by a role as a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company. They also interned at the Department of Premier and Cabinet and Macquarie Group, gaining experience in policy, strategy, and implementation. Additionally, they interned at ASIC, focusing on legal and regulatory matters.

Alex Oppes earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History, Politics, and Italian from the University of Melbourne from 2003 to 2008. In 2007, Alex studied as an exchange student at the University of Virginia. Additionally, Alex was a resident at Trinity College, University of Melbourne from 2003 to 2005. Prior to university, Alex completed the International Baccalaureate at St Peter's College from 1994 to 2002. Alex has also obtained certifications as a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and as a Chartered Financial Analyst from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the CFA Institute, respectively.
