Derek Schatz

Derek Schatz is an experienced information security professional currently serving as the Director of Information Security at Virgin Galactic since July 2021, where responsibilities include building a security program and overseeing strategy, governance, and operations. Prior to this role, Derek worked as an Information Security Consultant for Evotek and non-profit organizations focused on human rights and social justice. As an Adjunct Instructor at San Diego State University, Derek contributed to cybersecurity education. Previous positions include Director of Information Security at MeridianLink, Senior Security Architect at Boeing, and roles at Connexion by Boeing, Callisma, Predictive Systems, and Arthur Andersen. Derek holds a BA in Economics from UC Irvine.
