Raymond MacDermott is a Professor at Virginia Military Institute since July 2006. Raymond also served as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the institution. Prior to their current position, Raymond was an Assistant Professor at Western Illinois University from July 2002 to June 2006, and an Adjunct Professor at Penn State Erie from August 2001 to June 2002. Raymond holds a Post-doc in Marketing from Virginia Tech, a PhD in Economics from Rutgers University, a MA in Economics from University of Pittsburgh, and a BA in Math & Economics from Ithaca College.

Conferences The VMI Center for Leadership and Ethics hosts several conferences each year. These provide forums for discussions on issues of national, regional, and state importance, such as cybersecurity, STEM education, and the environment. The conferences provide co-curricular leader development and ethical training opportunities for VMI cadets. Most of the conferences are
