Lauren McMillan serves as the Cultural Resource Manager at Virginia State Parks since January 2023, bringing extensive experience in historical archaeology and education. Prior to this role, McMillan was an Assistant Professor at the University of Mary Washington from May 2015 to January 2023, specializing in Historical Archaeology, and directed significant archaeological projects in Virginia. Additional positions include Associate Project Archaeologist at St. Mary's College of Maryland, where management and reporting on archaeological excavations were key responsibilities, as well as a Fellow and Teaching Associate at the University of Tennessee, overseeing various undergraduate courses. McMillan's academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Tennessee, a Master’s Degree from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Historic Preservation from the University of Mary Washington.
