Carel van Baalen

Carel van Baalen is a seasoned scientist with extensive experience in the field of viral research and assay development. Currently serving as Principal Scientist at Cerba Research since April 2023, Carel previously held the position of Director of Assay Development Services at Viroclinics Biosciences BV from March 2008 to April 2023. Prior to this, Carel worked as a research scientist at Erasmus MC from 1994 to 2008 and at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) from 1991 to 1994. Carel van Baalen earned a PhD in Anti-viral immune responses from Erasmus University Rotterdam between 1997 and 2002 and completed an MSc in Biology at Utrecht University from 1985 to 1991.
