Steve Handel has a diverse range of work experience in various companies. Steve started their career in 1999 at Collins Aerospace as a Project Engineer, working on aircraft wheels and brakes for the 777-200LR/777-300ER. In 2002, they moved to Rolls-Royce as a Design Engineer, specializing in turbine engines. Later that year, they joined the United States Air Force as a Lead Project Engineer, where they managed projects for aircraft subsystems and armament certification.

In 2011, Handel transitioned to Honeywell Aerospace as a Senior Project/Systems Engineer, focusing on platform/systems architecture. Steve then moved to Axon in 2014, initially as a Senior Technical Program Manager and later as the PMO Manager for the Program Management Office. There, they led cross-functional teams, managed field support and system redesigns, and participated in bid and proposal activities.

Most recently, Handel joined VirTra in 2019 as the Vice President of Program Management, overseeing program management activities within the company.

Steve Handel has a strong educational background in engineering and management. Steve obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cedarville University, where they studied from 1995 to 1999. Later, they pursued further education at the University of Dayton, where they completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Engineering Management from 2003 to 2005.

In addition to their formal education, Steve Handel has also obtained various certifications. In October 2012, they earned a Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Honeywell. Furthermore, in November 2015, they obtained a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. These certifications demonstrate their commitment to professional development and expertise in quality management and project management.
