Lieven Lavaert

Lieven Lavaert is an experienced aviation professional currently serving as a Safety Manager and AT-802 Aerial Firefighting Pilot with the Aquarius Aerial Firefighting division of Cargolux Airlines since February 2024. Simultaneously, Lieven has been a Flight Instructor and Lead Instructor for the Virunga Park Air Wing since January 2021. Prior to these roles, Lieven served as a Captain, Instructor, and Examiner at TUI from January 2015 to January 2024, where responsibilities included type rating instruction and examination on multiple aircraft. Lieven also held a position as Floatplane Captain with Wings Over Kississing in 2023 and worked as an AT802 Firefighting Pilot for Forest Protection Limited earlier in 2023. From April 2021 to April 2023, Lieven was the MPL Lead Flight Instructor at TUIFLY ACADEMY BRUSSELS. Lieven's extensive career began in 1990 with Sabena, progressing through various roles, including Captain and Chief Flight Instructor at Jetairfly, and technical pilot positions, showcasing a vast expertise in flight training and safety management across multiple aircraft types.
