Environmental And Social Safeguard Associate at Virunga Power

Melody Okiri is an experienced Environmental and Social Safeguard Associate at Virunga Power since January 2020, focusing on stakeholder engagement, the implementation of the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), and managing the Grievance Redress Mechanism. In addition, Melody serves as a Country Representative for the African Circular Economy Network and previously worked as a Project Assistant with the Sustainable Agriculture Information Initiative in Turkana County, conducting training for project beneficiaries. Earlier roles include a Safety, Health and Environment Internship at Kenya Power, where responsibilities included reviewing environmental impact assessments and audits, and an attachment with Nairobi City County monitoring noise pollution. Melody holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from The Technical University of Kenya, earned in 2018.
