Martina Barksdale has a diverse range of work experience in various industries. Martina is currently the Director of Communications at VisitLEX since January 2023. Prior to that, Martina was the Co-Founder of SoulFeast Week, a culinary celebration of black culture in Central Kentucky. Martina worked on planning and executing events, building relationships with brands, and developing marketing campaigns.
Martina also served as an On-Camera Host/Producer at The Sit-in Productions starting from November 2019. Martina then joined Gray Television as a Lifestyle Host/Executive Producer, where they launched and produced the Everyday Kentucky Lifestyle show for WKYT. Martina also hosted and produced segments for the "Today at 11" show and contributed to various creative campaigns and content for WLBT.
Before their time in the television industry, Martina gained experience as an Account Executive at LM Communications and as a Gameday Host at the Cincinnati Reds. Martina also worked as a Content Producer for the Kentucky Basketball Commission.
Martina's earlier experiences include roles such as Catering Sales Supervisor at Levy Restaurants, Host/Producer at Big Review TV, and Banquet Sales/Marketing Manager at Shakespeare & Co.
Martina Barksdale completed their high school education at Tates Creek High School from 2007 to 2011, earning a High School Diploma. Martina then pursued their passion for film by studying Film/Cinema/Video Studies at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts from 2011 to 2013, achieving a Certificate in the field.
