Coralys Galindez

Research Associate at Vita Therapeutics

Coralys Galindez has diverse work experience in research and academia. In 2017, they worked as a Neuroscience Research Laboratory Assistant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they supported a study on the effects of locus coeruleus norepinephrine neurons on behavioral output in rodent models. Coralys also participated in a STEM AP Summer Research Program, learning microbiology techniques and developing a case study on inclusive pedagogy.

In 2018, Galindez served as a Quantitative Proteomics Laboratory Assistant at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, assisting with a study on protein biomarkers in chronic diseases. Coralys utilized advanced technology for sample processing and database comparison.

From 2019 to 2020, they presented a case study on inclusiveness in a diverse classroom setting at the XXII Annual Student Conference. This work was done in collaboration with Dr. Ally Hunter from UMass Amherst College of Education.

In 2020, Galindez worked as a COVID-19 Stress Response Research Assistant at the UPR Comprehensive Cancer Center. Their responsibilities included supporting a lab study on the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms in interleukin genes and severe COVID-19 infections, stress, inflammation, and gut microbiome. Coralys worked with human tissue samples for ELISA assays and RNA extractions, as well as developing standard operation procedures for lab equipment.

Most recently, in 2023, they joined Vita Therapeutics as a Research Associate.

Coralys Galindez has a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, General from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, which they earned between the years 2016 and 2020. Currently, they are pursuing a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology at The Johns Hopkins University, starting in 2021 and expected to finish in 2022.
