Cherise Tan

Cherise Tan, MBChB, is a multifaceted professional with extensive experience in both software engineering and medical practice. Currently a Software Engineer at Vital since May 2023 and a Senior Engineer at Xero from February 2020 to April 2023, Cherise has contributed significantly to user experience and design systems, with a strong focus on accessibility. Cherise co-founded Swing Central Ltd., enhancing the West Coast Swing dance community in Wellington while also serving as a Dance Teacher and Director. Previous medical roles include House Officer positions at various health boards, where Cherise honed problem-solving and communication skills while overseeing patient care. Cherise also gained research experience at the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute during medical education at the University of Otago, complemented by web development training from Dev Academy Aotearoa.
