Katie Craighead

Katie is the Middle East and North Africa Program Assistant for the Global Network & Regional Engagement team, supporting efforts to end gender-based violence in Iraq.

Prior to working at Vital Voices, Katie worked in North Africa and South America empowering youth and women via mentorship, education, and vocational training to address poverty and gender-based violence. Katie also worked with non-profits in West Africa researching UNICEF WASH programs and women’s health in the region. In between working abroad, Katie worked in Washington, DC supporting program coordination for MENA-focused non-profits and Congressman Blumenauer’s office. They obtained their B.A. in International Affairs, French, and Math in Portland, Oregon. While originally from Colorado, Katie would love to call Strasbourg, France home. They love reading, listening to, and watching content from every country but America and dream of expanding their work advocating for women’s and LGBTQIA+ rights.
