David Brendan Murphy

David Brendan Murphy is an experienced trader specializing in natural gas and derivatives. Currently serving as a Trader at Vitol since November 2022, David has previously held roles such as West Natural Gas Trader at Castleton Commodities International and Repsol, where responsibilities included natural gas basis, storage, and transport trading. Prior to this, David worked at NextEra Energy Resources in various capacities, including Derivatives Trader and Physical Natural Gas Trader, focusing on natural gas swaps, options, and optimizing transport and storage solutions. David also contributed as an Analyst, developing advanced models and tools for option valuation and position tracking. Earlier experience includes an Analyst Intern role at N.E.O.S. LLC Hedge Fund, researching natural gas fundamentals. David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance from the College of Charleston.
