Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Planning and Purchasing Manager, the Sourcing Engineer will primarily manage all tactical purchasing to support internal and external instrument system operations. This individual will work closely with the Hardware System Development group, Logistic team, and Leadership Team to understand all forward instrument components and consigned inventory needs and will be responsible for executing and tracking all orders against such items. This individual will also consolidate and own all purchasing operations across the organization's instrument systems.

Responsibilities: 

  • Update and organize the Vizgen instrument inventory.
  • Collaborate with the Hardware System development group and act as an expert for new and existing materials.
  • Create a library of instrument materials by sourcing new and innovative materials and alternatives to existing materials. Which includes consigned material purchasing.
  • Manage, track, and execute orders on consigned inventory and provide recommendations to leadership on forwarding stock of such inventory.
  • Develop and maintain a program for spare parts to ensure optimized availability and contract readiness.Build and maintain genuine relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understand material properties and how they contribute to desired performance qualities.
  • Coordinate and communicate with external vendors to obtain material samples and information.
  • Mitigate schedule challenges that may negatively impact forward production attainment.
  • Take ownership of department KPIs and other sources, including inventory days/months on hand, stock-outs, and price variances.
  • Build and drive accountability towards dashboards.
  • Lead and coordinate program activities to prevent, minimize, or eliminate purchasing delays and impacts.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Planning and Purchasing Manager and/or leadership team.

Job Qualifications:

  • A preferred minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, or any Life Sciences-related field.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including macros, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and macro coding, is necessary.
  • Applicants must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must, as demonstrated by planning and organizational abilities.
  • Finally, the ideal candidate should be assertive, collaborative, and results oriented.
