Kenneth Platz

Kenneth Platz has a diverse range of work experience, with their most recent position being a Staff Software Engineer at VIZIO since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Datadog from 2020 to 2022, where they served as a Software Engineer II and was responsible for implementing a query engine, maintaining and developing new features for the indexing database, and supporting production systems. Kenneth also worked as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Xcalar, Inc. from 2019 to 2020. Kenneth has experience in leadership roles as well, having served as an Area Director at District 26 Toastmasters from 2018 to 2019. In addition, they worked as a Software Engineer at NetApp SolidFire from 2017 to 2019 and at VMware as an Intern in the vSphere Integrated Containers team in 2016. Kenneth has also held roles as a Graduate Research Assistant and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas at Dallas from 2014 to 2017. Kenneth started their career as a System Administrator Leader at CSC in 2005, where they gained expertise in HP-UX and ServiceGuard. Prior to that, they worked at Adea Solutions as a Consultant and at Colonial BancGroup as a UNIX Systems Administrator.

Kenneth Platz has a strong educational background in computer science. Kenneth began their higher education journey at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from 1990 to 1994. After a few years, they pursued further studies and attended The University of Texas at Dallas, where they obtained a Master's Degree in Computer Science from 2010 to 2014. Continuing their academic pursuits, they then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas from 2014 to 2017. In addition to their formal education, they also briefly attended UNSW in 1993, focusing on Computer Science.
