Alan Chiu

Alan Chiu has a diverse work experience spanning various scientific and research roles. Alan currently works at Volastra Therapeutics as a Scientist II, Biology, where they lead drug development efforts for high priority targets and manages a team of internal biologists, chemists, and biochemists. Alan is also responsible for coordinating communications with big pharma collaborators and leading target discovery efforts. Prior to this, they held the role of Scientist I, Biology at Volastra Therapeutics.

Before joining Volastra Therapeutics, Alan worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Cornell University, where they focused on investigating novel cell encapsulation technologies for advanced cancer modeling and drug delivery. Earlier in their career, Alan worked as a Sr. Research Technician/Lab Manager at Boston University's Tim Gardner Laboratory, where they managed the operations of an avian research animal facility and participated in neurosurgeries and post-operative care.

Alan completed their Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) degree in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, with a secondary focus on Religion, from Harvard University, where they studied from 2006 to 2010.
