Alexander Kubiak's work experience includes roles at three different companies. Alexander started their career as an Undergraduate Intern at the Guiltinan-Maximova Lab in 2015, where they contributed to various research activities such as establishing a gDNA Library, maintaining transgenic plant tissue cultures, and assisting with PCR/Gel electrophoresis and media preparation.
In 2017, Kubiak joined Vericel Corporation as a Manufacturing Technician, where they performed aseptic manipulations of cell culture and final product assemblies in a cleanroom environment. Alexander worked specifically on manufacturing MACI, an autologous cell therapy product used for repairing cartilage defects in the adult knee. Kubiak was later promoted to a Senior Manufacturing Technician, taking on additional responsibilities in producing autologous cell therapy products.
Most recently, Kubiak joined Voyager Therapeutics, Inc. in 2020 as a Research Associate II, primarily focusing on upstream AAV gene therapy production and cytology. Alexander became proficient in downstream methods such as transfection and FPLC purification and performed JMP analysis on cytology data. In 2021, Kubiak transitioned to the role of Senior Research Associate I at the same company, continuing to handle cytology needs and working on process development projects utilizing design of experiment. One of these projects involved studying the effects of iHDACs and iDNMTs in the AAV production process.
From 2010 to 2016, Alexander Kubiak attended Penn State University and obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biotechnology.
