Reporting to the Financial Controller, we are seeking a detail oriented Accountant to assist with full-cycle accounting for a fast growing tech company.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Revenue Management

  • Preparation and dissemination of invoices to clients

  • Collection and deposit of client payments

  • Tracking A/R and management of collections cycle

  • Preparation and analysis of monthly revenue and A/R aging reports

  • Assistance with management of client relationships

Accounts Payable

  • Full cycle responsibility for receiving, reviewing, recording and processing payment of vendor invoices and expense reports

  • Maintain vendor files and all associated documents, including contracts and terms of reference

Finance and Accounting Management

  • Support in creation and management of all financial working papers, including accurate treatment, coding and entry of financial transactions into accounting system

  • Support in month end close and reporting by preparing and entering journal entries.

Audit Support

  • Support during our annual audit including, but not limited to communication with external auditors, providing schedules and backup, preparing working papers and samples, preparing draft financial statements.

Administration

  • Preparation of employee payroll, including source deductions, EI, CPP, and other employee benefits

  • Office management: ensure downtown Vancouver office functions smoothly and is supplied

  • Benefits and RRSP/DPSP administration: reconciling payments, signing up eligible employees, and responding to employee inquiries.

  • Asset Management: ensuring employees have proper equipment/specs and maintaining the fixed asset register.

  • Client Onboarding: support compiling client onboarding packages including final hardware check before mail out.

Cash Management

  • Monitoring cash levels and preparing monthly liquidity reports for senior management

  • Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations

  • Reconciliation and payment of company credit cards.

Tax Matters

  • Assistance with SR&ED reporting with the collaboration of internal team leads and external consultants as required

  • Preparation of GST returns and management of periodic remittances/refunds

  • Preparation and remittance of Employer Health tax installments and returns.

Requirements and Experience

  • A university degree with a specialization in business, commerce, accounting or similar

  • CPA or working towards CPA an asset

  • Experience using accounting software (Xero or similar)

  • Audit experience is preferred

  • At least 1 year of experience in full-cycle accounting

  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Experience in the SAAS/technology sector is an asset

  • Proficiency with Google Cloud, MS Office (Excel, Word), and Adobe Acrobat

  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting principles.

  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Passionate about taking on new challenges, dealing with complexity and continuous improvement of processes

  • Ability to establish priorities and work independently

Location of work: 

  • Minimum 40% in Vancouver office; 60% hybrid/remote

Terms of employment: 

  • Full-time, Permanent

  • Completion of a background check will be required for this position

Compensation/benefits:

  • $60,000-$80,000 CAD annually, based on experience
