The role:

We have an exciting opportunity in the web team for a Front End Developer to join us. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who wants to join our adventure, to be part of a company that is disrupting the market with an innovative product. 

We're looking for an experienced candidate to lead the web development of our new product vision.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Working within the Web Team to architect, build and maintain the platform.

• Adding new features to match designs following best practices and prioritising maintainability and performance.

• Mentoring Developers in their day-to-day work, on departmental processes and best-practices. Leading by example.

• Continually learning and sharing what you’ve learned to improve code quality.

• Identifying issues affecting team output and performance, and facilitating the resolution of those issues.

• Identifying, defining and deploying tactics, tools and solutions that achieve business objectives.

• Management of team delivery, including attendance at all team planning sessions, and keeping team members briefed on changes to agreed plans and strategies.

• Supporting product and project management cycles by helping the product team to prioritise requirements.

• Manage interfaces with the Modelling, Data, Engine, QA and Support Teams.

What you’ll need to succeed:

• Team leadership experience.

• Significant experience in building web applications with JavaScript / TypeScript and ReactJS.

• Solid knowledge of GraphQL and NodeJS.

• Experience of using, managing and maintaining version control solutions.

• An excellent understanding of:

• Integrations with external systems.

• Data structures.

• Software architecture, design patterns and algorithms.

• Agile principles.

• Keen interest in applying code best practices and delivering readable code

• An affinity for prioritising complex product requirements and reducing them to manageable tasks.

• Self motivated with a passion for continual professional development.

• Personal, adaptable and flexible with the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced changing environment

• Demonstrates both strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently

• Must be available to attend quarterly company meetings held in the office in person and attend the office on assigned office days each week in line with our hybrid working policy.

• Be human and ready to have fun.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with web-based 3D frameworks and/or alternative libraries

• Experience with other React-based frameworks

• Experience working with web maps like Mapbox

• Experience in building design libraries

• Experience with PostgresQL and knowledge of microservice architecture
