The role:

We have an exciting opportunity in the technology department, within the web team for a full stack developer  to join us. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who wants to join our adventure, to be part of a company that is disrupting the market with an innovative product. 

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Work within the Web Team to architect, build, and maintain the platform.

  • Add new features to match designs following best practices, prioritising maintainability and performance.

  • Continually learn and share knowledge to improve code quality.

  • Identify issues affecting team output/performance and facilitate their resolution.

  • Identify, define, and deploy tactics, tools, and solutions to achieve business objectives.

  • Collaborate with the team in all planning sessions, ensuring members are briefed on changes to agreed plans/strategies.

  • Support product/project management cycles by helping the product team prioritise requirements.

  • Manage interfaces with the Modelling, Data, Engine, QA, and Support Teams.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Significant experience in building web applications with JavaScript/TypeScript and ReactJS.

  • Significant experience with GraphQL and NodeJS.

  • Experience using, managing, and maintaining version control solutions.

  • Experience with microservice architecture and implementing backend solutions.

  • Experience working with cloud technologies, especially AWS.

  • Proficiency in working with databases, particularly PostgreSQL, but adaptable to using the best tools for the job.

  • An excellent understanding of:

    • Integrations with external systems.
    • Data structures.
    • Software architecture, design patterns, and algorithms.
    • Agile principles.
  • Keen interest in applying code best practices and delivering readable code.

  • Ability to prioritise complex product requirements and reduce them to manageable tasks.

  • Be an excellent problem solver and effective communicator, with a positive can-do attitude.

  • Self motivated with a passion for continual professional development.

  • Personal, adaptable and flexible with the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced changing environment.

  • Demonstrates both strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently.

  • Must be available to attend quarterly company meetings held in the office in person and attend the office on assigned office days each week in line with our hybrid working policy.

  • Be human and ready to have fun.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with web-based 3D frameworks and/or alternative libraries.

  • Experience with web-based GIS frameworks and tools for advanced spatial data visualisation and analysis.

  • Experience with other React-based frameworks.

  • Experience working with web maps like Mapbox.

  • Experience in building design libraries.

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a generous benefits package:

  • 22 days holiday per year, increasing to 27 through length of service. Initially increased by 2 days after 2 years service and 1 day per year thereafter - based on fulltime prorated for part time.
