Bianca M Buurman

Bianca M Buurman currently serves as the Chair of Verpleegkundigen & Verzorgenden Nederland since February 2021 and holds the position of Professor in Acute Geriatrics at the University of Amsterdam since July 2017. Bianca also works as a lector in Acute Geriatrics at AMC and the Amsterdam School of Health Professions, focusing on interventions to prevent disability, readmission, and mortality among hospitalized older adults. Previously, Bianca served as the Chief Nursing Officer at the Ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport for one year and spent several years as a senior researcher on functional decline at AMC. Bianca's research expertise includes longitudinal studies and clinical trials aimed at improving transitional care for older patients. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Medicine from the University of Amsterdam and an MSc in Nursing Science from the University of Wales, Cardiff.
