Raman Govindarajan

Scientific Advisor at Vyome Therapeutics

Dr. Raman Govindarajan is the India R&D Head of Sanofi-Aventis, a leading global pharmaceuticals company, responsible for developing an R&D strategy for India in line with Sanofi-Aventis’ regional and global needs including building research and development partnerships across the Drug discovery and development value chain. He is a medical doctor with residency training in internal medicine and also holds a PhD in cell biology. After his graduate training he spent four years at Cornell University Medical College as a post-doctoral fellow in cell biology working on the cellular basis of hypertension and cloning a unique myosin heavy chain gene in muscular dystrophy. On his return to India, he joined Unilever where he had a successful stint of over sixteen years in cell biology and molecular biology of skin, focusing first on aging and then on pigmentation, irritation, allergy and tumorigenesis.

His other professional roles include research and regulatory affairs leadership positions at Johnson & Johnson Asia Pacific. Dr. Govindarajan has also been an Adjunct Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the National University of Singapore.

Prior to Sanofi-Aventis he was Senior Vice President for Discovery Biology, Development and Translational Medicine at Jubilant Biosys and Jubilant Innovation in India. Dr. Raman has published more than 100 internal scientific reports and has 24 filed patents, 25 peer reviewed publications and 45 conference presentations to his name.
