Diego Grando Módolo

Scientist 3 - Gene Therapy Vector Engineer at Vyro Bio

Diego Grando Módolo has been working in the field of biotechnology since 2002. Diego began their career as an Intern at the Instituto Agronômico de Campinas in 2002. In 2005, they interned at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas, where they worked on DNA cloning, expression purification, and characterization of recombinant proteins from eukaryotic and prokaryotic expression systems. From 2014 to 2019, they worked as a Research Associate at the Instituto Butantan, where they cloned, expressed, and purified high complexity recombinant proteins and achieved the production of a safe, efficient, and low-cost vaccine by the expression of recombinant viruses' proteins in bacterial cells. Diego also achieved the production and purification of Virus-like Particles (VLPs). In 2019, they were promoted to Research Development Lab Technologist II at the Instituto Butantan, where they developed an epitope-based vaccine against human papillomavirus (HPV) and SARS-CoV-2, conducted molecular modelling of virus epitopes, and designed chimeric antigens. In 2022, they began working as a Scientist 3 - Gene Therapy Vector Engineer at Vyro Bio.

Diego Grando Módolo received their B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas in 2005. Diego then went on to pursue a M.Sc. in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Universidade Estadual de Campinas, which they completed in 2009. Finally, Diego earned their PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Universidade Estadual de Campinas in 2014.
