Maxwell Piper

Maxwell Piper is an Observing Assistant at W. M. Keck Observatory since October 2022, responsible for configuring the facility and telescope for astronomical observations. Prior experience includes serving as a Sales Associate at Trek Bicycle, where product knowledge and customer relations were key, and participating in astrophysics research at Reed College under Prof. Alison Crocker, utilizing data from the MaNGA Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Maxwell also operated telescopes and hosted public observing nights as a Telescope Operator at Reed College, alongside roles as a Physics Teaching Assistant and Course Grader. Earlier work experience includes a Customer Service Associate position at Lowe's and a Gymnastics Coach role at Eyas Gymnastics. Maxwell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Reed College, earned in 2022, and a High School Diploma from Iowa City High School, completed in 2018.
