Eelke Folmer

Eelke Folmer is an accomplished ecologist and consultant, serving as the owner and senior research scientist at Ecospace Ecological Research and Consultancy since 2010, where collaboration with academic and societal partners is emphasized. As a founding partner at Aeria and a board member of the Friese Milieufederatie and Waddenvereniging, Eelke focuses on strategic oversight and scientific validity in ecological initiatives. Eelke has also contributed to FruitPunch AI as an AI for Good Engineer, working on impactful projects involving autonomous drones and wildfire detection. Academic experience includes roles as a researcher and postdoctoral researcher at NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research, with prior ecological advice work at Alkyon. Eelke holds a Ph.D. in Behavioural Ecology and an MSc in Biology from the University of Groningen.
