Brittany Battle

Associate Professor Of Sociology at Wake Forest University

Brittany Battle is an Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University since July 2019 and previously served as a Doctoral Candidate at Rutgers University from August 2012 to July 2019. Research interests include the conceptualization of family, the impact of social policies such as welfare and child support, and criminal and family courts. Brittany's dissertation, "Deadbeat Dads, Single Moms, and Broken Homes?: A Sociocultural Analysis of the American Child Support System," explores the organization and consequences of the American child support system through court observations and participant interviews. Additional experience includes roles as a Teaching Assistant, Graduate Student Instructor, and Lecturer at various institutions, along with consulting at BCS and Associates Consulting Firm focused on social justice, and directing projects at Wilmington Hope Commission. Brittany holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and multiple master's degrees in Sociology and African-American/Black Studies from Rutgers University and Temple University, along with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware.
