Jil Macdonald

Jil Macdonald has had a long and successful career in the energy and insurance industries. Jil began their career in 2005 as an Exploration Geophysicist at Encana Corporation. Jil then moved to Ernst & Young in 2012 as a Manager of Advisory Services, where they provided management consulting services to leading North American and multinational energy corporations. In 2014, they joined the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) as Vice President of Science, Evaluation & Innovation, and then moved to Vice President of Closure & Liability. In 2017, they joined the Bridgeland Riverside Community Association as Board Vice President. In 2019, they joined Alberta Health Services as a member of the Patient Advisory Council. In 2020, they joined both Evolve Digital as a Digital Transformation Officer and AltaML as Vice President of Business Development, National Lead & Managing Director of Calgary, and Managing Director & Western North America Regional Services Lead, and Director of Enterprise AI Integration. Finally, in 2021, they joined the Alberta Cancer Foundation as a member of the Own. Cancer Campaign Cabinet. In 2023, they joined Walnut Insurance as Chief Operating Officer.

Jil Macdonald has a diverse education history. Jil attended the University of Calgary from 2003 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics. Jil then completed an MBA in Business Administration, Management and Operations at the University of Liverpool from 2010 to 2012. In 2014, they earned a Certificate in Strategic Management of Regulatory & Enforcement Activities from Harvard Kennedy School. In 2019, they obtained a Certificate in Artificial Intelligence & Digital Transformation from Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management. Additionally, Jil Macdonald holds certifications in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (ICBB) and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (ICGB) from Encana Corporation, as well as a Professional Geophysicist certification from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
