Felicia Pehrson MD FACC CPE has a diverse and extensive work experience in the medical field. Felicia has held various leadership and executive positions in prominent medical institutions and organizations.
Dr. Pehrson started their career as Chief of the Department of Pediatrics at Womack Army Medical Center where they led a team of healthcare professionals and implemented numerous process improvement projects. Felicia then served as Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Commander for Clinical Services at DeWitt Health Care Network, overseeing the quality, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness of medical services for a large number of beneficiaries.
Felicia went on to become the Chief of Clinical Operations for Multi-National Forces in Iraq, where they directed health service support for coalition forces and implemented various health programs to support the local healthcare infrastructure. Subsequently, Dr. Pehrson served as the Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Commander for Clinical Services at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, leading over 1,600 providers and supporting staff in the delivery of complex care for military personnel and their families.
Continuing their career in leadership roles, Dr. Pehrson worked as a Physician Surveyor for The Joint Commission, and as Leader for the Military Health System's transformation to high reliability, where they facilitated the implementation of multiple action plans to improve access, quality of care, and patient safety.
Felicia also held positions at the U.S. Army Office of the Surgeon General, where they served as the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Healthcare Delivery, leading and integrating healthcare delivery and clinical policies across the Army-wide healthcare system. Felicia later became the Executive Director of Quality and Safety, developing policies and procedures to enhance communication and safety culture in medical treatment facilities.
In their most recent position as the Director for Quality (Chief Quality Officer), Pediatric Cardiologist at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Dr. Pehrson served as a physician executive and strategic advisor for quality services. Felicia oversaw various areas such as accreditation, patient and occupational safety, risk management, infection prevention and control, and patient and staff experience.
Dr. Pehrson's work experience showcases their expertise in quality management, patient safety, and healthcare delivery. Their leadership roles and clinical expertise in pediatric cardiology have significantly contributed to the advancement of healthcare practices and patient care.
Felicia Pehrson MD FACC CPE attended Brandeis University from 1979 to 1983, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry and Biology. Felicia then attended New York Medical College from 1983 to 1987 and obtained their Medical Doctor degree in Medicine. In 2000 to 2001, they studied Strategic Studies at Command and General Staff College. In 2008, they attended the Interagency Institute for Federal Health Care Executives to gain knowledge about interagency, national, and global perspectives on healthcare issues and trends. Felicia later pursued a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy with a concentration in Executive Business Decision-Making and Healthcare at the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy from 2011 to 2012. Felicia Pehrson MD FACC CPE continues to expand their expertise through various certifications, including being Board Certified in Medical Quality (CMQ) and Health Care Quality and Management (CHCQM). Felicia is also a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) and holds board certifications in Pediatrics, specializing in Pediatric Cardiology.
