Casey Sears

Casey Sears has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. They are currently serving as the Chief Operations Officer at Washington Leadership Academy Public Charter School since August 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Operations at the same school from June 2021 to August 2022.

Casey also worked at Urban Teachers, starting in 2016. They held several roles at Urban Teachers, including Assistant Director of Fellow Experience from August 2020 to June 2021, Diversity Equity and Inclusion Officer from March 2020 to June 2021, Senior Information Technology Specialist from July 2019 to September 2020, and Information Systems and Technology Specialist from June 2016 to July 2019.

Before joining Urban Teachers, Casey worked as a Science Teacher at KIPP DC from July 2013 to June 2016. They also worked as a Science Teacher at Goodwill Education Initiatives from August 2011 to August 2013. At Goodwill Education Initiatives, Casey taught various subjects, developed curriculum, and was involved in committees such as the school's technology committee and gay straight alliance.

Casey also has experience with Teach For America, where they served as an Indianapolis 2011 Corps Member from June 2011 to August 2013. They were actively involved in leadership cohorts, diversity and inclusion committees, and secondary science teams. They facilitated sessions on best practices for secondary science educators, health awareness, public action, and diversity and inclusion.

In addition, Casey has experience in research and academia. They worked as a Head Resident at Residence Life at The College of William and Mary from June 2010 to May 2011. Prior to this, they served as a Lab Manager in Williamsburg, VA from January 2008 to January 2011, where their responsibilities included managing a research lab and training new lab members. Casey also worked as a Research Assistant at College of William and Mary from 2007 to 2011.

They also have experience in the office of undergraduate admissions at The College of William & Mary, where they worked as a Senior Admission Interviewer in the summer of 2010, conducting interviews and assisting with various tasks. They also interned at The Office of Health Education at the College of William & Mary in the summer of 2010.

Casey Sears holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Neuroscience and Women's Studies, which was obtained from William & Mary University from 2007 to 2011. In addition, they also obtained a Master's in the Art of Teaching with a focus on Secondary Science Education from Marian University between 2011 and 2013. Furthermore, Casey has several additional certifications, including Nonprofit Technology Professional Certification from NTEN obtained in October 2019 and Box Certified Professional from Box obtained in September 2018. Lastly, they have also acquired the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in August 2020.
