Eleanor Kirtley

Eleanor Kirtley, PhD, LEED AP, PE, is a seasoned senior program manager at Green Marine, the largest voluntary environmental certification program for the maritime industry in North America, since November 2014. In addition to this role, Kirtley serves as a board member for Washington Maritime Blue, contributing to the advancement of sustainable maritime practices, and as a commissioner on the Washington State Board of Pilotage Commissioners, focusing on safety and environmental protection in state waters. Kirtley chairs the Technology & Research Environmental Committee for SNAME and previously co-chaired the Marine Vessel Environmental Performance Assessment, developing methodologies for assessing environmental practices in vessel design and operation. With engineering experience at Glosten and an internship at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Kirtley holds a PhD in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University.
