Kate Serrano

Kate Serrano is a staff writer for Washington Square News since September 2022, contributing pitches across various news desks including Arts, Opinion, Culture, and Under the Arch. Previously, Kate worked as a project coordinator at M+M Strategies Collective from June to August 2023, focusing on strategic planning for nonprofits and business development, which encompassed grant writing and community engagement. Additionally, Kate served as a teacher assistant at America Reads*America Counts from September 2022 to January 2023, providing tutoring support to young students. Earlier experience includes a project intern role at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2018, where participation was part of the Einstein Enrichment Program aimed at supporting underrepresented students in medical fields. Kate is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Sociology with a minor in Public Policy at New York University, on track to graduate in May 2025.
