Al Cave

Al Cave has been with Apprenti since 2017, where they are currently the Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining Apprenti, Al had an extensive career in compliance and ethics, having served as the Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer for the Northern Trust Corporation from 2005 to 2017. Al was responsible for leading the compliance and ethics function for an organization that was repeatedly recognized as one of Fortune Magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” and The Ethisphere Institute’s “World’s Most Ethical Companies.” Al also chaired Northern Trust’s Compliance and Ethics Oversight Committee and was a member of the Business Leadership Council, the 150 most senior members of the company.

At Northern Trust, Al transformed the role and perception of the Compliance function, creating a dynamic organization that served as an advisor and business partner to the organization. Prior to their time at Northern Trust, Al was an attorney at Connelly Sheehan Harris, where they advised and represented management side on a broad range of employment law issues and litigation. Al also served as the Vice President of Associate Relations at Stop & Shop from 2002 to 2004 and as the Vice President of Employment & Regulatory Law from 1998 to 2002. Al began their career as an Associate in Employment and Employee Benefits at Day, Berry & Howard LLP from 1993 to 1998.

Al Cave attended Georgetown University Law Center, where they earned their Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science at Duke University. Al also has a Diversity & Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University and a SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification from HRCI.
