Alex James has a diverse range of work experience in various sectors. They began their career as a Publicity Officer for the Warwick German Society at the University of Warwick in 2013. Following this, they worked as a Foreign Language Assistant at the British Council from 2014 to 2015. They then worked as a Communications and Marketing Assistant at Bron Afon Community Housing in 2015.
In 2016, Alex joined Scriptoria Sustainable Development Solutions, where they held multiple roles, including Publications Assistant, Publications Manager, and Senior Project Manager and Business Development Lead. During this time, they managed the production of knowledge products and communications materials for various organizations and coordinated business development activities.
In 2017, Alex worked as a Communications Consultant for the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Development Facility (CRIDF), focusing on water-related issues in Southern Africa. They were also a Workstream Lead, Editing and Mentoring at AgShare.Today, a program supporting agricultural scientists in Africa.
In 2018, Alex joined the Centre of Excellence for Development Impact and Learning (CEDIL) as a Communications Consultant, where they worked on evaluation methods in international development contexts.
In 2020, Alex worked as a Communications Consultant for Invest Salone, a private sector development initiative in Sierra Leone.
Currently, Alex is working at WaterAid as a Partnership Development Manager. They are responsible for leading engagement with sectors such as finance, pharmaceutical, and professional services in the UK and Europe. They work on cross-federation initiatives to scale up private capital for water, sanitation, and hygiene projects, with a focus on sustainable finance.
Throughout their career, Alex has worked with various clients and organizations, including the United Nations, UK FCDO, World Bank, CGIAR, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and UK DFID. They have experience in project management, business development, publications, communications, and strategic partnerships.
Alex James completed their high school education at Caerleon Comprehensive School from 2005 to 2012. They then attended the University of Warwick from 2012 to 2016, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in German and History.
