Melaine Ferdinand-King

Melaine Ferdinand-King is a skilled curator and archivist with extensive experience in the fields of art, education, and social justice. Currently serving as a Graduate Curator & Archivist at John Hay Library and as a Curator for WaterFire Providence, Ferdinand-King has curated significant exhibitions, including "Art and the Freedom Struggle: The Works of Mumia Abu-Jamal" and "Poiesis: Street Culture & The Art of the City." Previous roles include curriculum writing and project management at the Ruth J. Simmons Center for the Study of Slavery & Justice and work on the Black Feminist Theory Project at the Pembroke Center. Ferdinand-King's academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Africana Studies from Brown University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Spelman College.
