Bryan Schachter

Chief Investment Officer at Watermark Retirement Communities

Bryan joined Watermark and The Freshwater Group in 2006 as the wellness initiative coordinator — all while I was still a student in the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management. He advanced through the ranks by transitioning to the role of Analyst in 2008, then Senior Analyst, then multiple director roles and most recently he was named Chief Investment Officer in March 2020.

In this role, he manages Watermark’s investments, including acquisitions, developments, redevelopments and dispositions performing financial and market feasibility as well as joint venture, loan and sale negotiations. Since 2011, The Freshwater Group/Watermark has closed 49 separate transactions with total deal capitalization of more than $3.6 billion and has approximately $1 billion in the current pipeline. From those transactions, the company’s portfolio has grown from seven to 75 communities located across 22 states, including developments, redevelopments and management transitions that are currently underway.
