Alan Rice has a diverse work experience in software engineering roles. Alan started their career as a web development intern at Oak Studios, where they worked on building a freelancer platform. Alan then joined Authorea as a web developer, initially as a contractor and later as a full-time employee. Alan contributed to the rebuilding of Authorea's marketing website and the transfer of their document editor onto React and Redux. After that, Alan joined Ride Health as a software engineer, where they played a crucial role in building a real-time distributed system using Elixir and React/Typescript. Finally, they worked at KINETIC as a software engineer, starting as a contractor and then becoming a full-time employee. Alan helped develop contact-tracing features during the Covid pandemic and oversaw the transition to a modern architecture using technologies like Typescript, React, and AWS Serverless.
Alan Rice earned a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from New York University, studying from 2011 to 2015. In 2015, they also completed a Web Development Immersive program at General Assembly.
