David W. has a diverse work experience spanning various fields. David began their career in 1995 as a Residential Counselor at Devereux, where they supervised disturbed adolescents in a residential treatment center. After that, they worked as a Customer Service representative at Prudential Insurance from 1997 to 2000. From 1998 to 2001, they were a Special Events Specialist at REI. David then transitioned to work in marketing at WHYY and "Fresh Air With Terry Gross" from 2000 to 2007. In 2007, they became involved with Weavers Way Co-op, starting as a Vice President and eventually serving as the Past President on the Board of Directors. David also worked as a Development Associate at Angel Flight East from 2007 to 2009. In 2012, they joined the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program as a part-time Mural Arts Guide, and from 2004 to 2012, they worked as a part-time Tour Guide at the Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site. Most recently, David has been an Instructor at Philadelphia Rock Gyms since 2013.

David W. attended the US Army Infantry School in Ft Benning, Georgia from 1987 to 1988, where they completed the Infantry Officer's Advanced Course. Prior to that, from 1982 to 1983, they attended the US Army Infantry School in Ft Benning, GA, completing the Infantry Officer's Basic Course. David W. obtained their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Mass Communications from the University of Vermont, where they studied from 1978 to 1982. David completed their secondary education at Brooklyn Technical High School from 1975 to 1978, earning a Diploma in Electrical studies.
