Shawn (Butters) Butterfield is an accomplished technology professional with extensive experience in software architecture and engineering. As a Technical Editor for the IETF since June 2022 and a Contributing Editor for the W3C, Shawn plays a critical role in developing industry standards related to JOSE and Verifiable Credentials. With a tenure at Salesforce beginning in August 2008, Shawn has held multiple leadership positions, including Software Engineering Architect and Distinguished Architect, overseeing software architecture for various products and driving digital transformation initiatives. Additionally, Shawn co-founded Ask Butters, Inc. in January 2020, serving as President and CTO. Education includes a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from Washington State University, a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Software Engineering from the University of Phoenix, and an Associate of Science from North Idaho College.
