John Combs

Assistant Coach, Baseball at Webster University Leiden

John Combs returns to the Gorlok Baseball program for his second stint as an assistant coach in 2023. He served as the Assistant Baseball Coach under Bill Kurich for the 2011 season. The Gorloks went 32-13 overall and 21-3 in conference play in the 2011 season. They captured the SLIAC Regular Season and Tournament titles while reaching the NCAA Regional Tournament for the sixth time in seven seasons.

John was the starting catcher for 3 years at Webster and was also a captain for the last 2 years. In 2010, his senior season, John hit .333 with 7 HR’s, 28 RBI’s, and was tied for second on the team with 12 stolen bases.

After transferring from Lincoln College in 2007, John graduated from Webster University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies. During his playing career he was a member of the 2008 NCAA Regional runner up squad and the 2010 NCAA regional squad. He was a member of the ’07-’08 and ’09-’10 conference regular season and tournament championship teams, and the ’08-’09 regular season champion team.
