Afua S. Owusu

Afua S. Owusu has a strong and diverse work experience in the media industry. Afua S. began their career as a Promotions Manager and On-Air Talent at ClearChannel Communications in 2005. Afua S. then gained experience as a Technical Producer at WTXL ABC 27 from 2005 to 2008.

In 2008, they joined Tribune Media as a Supervising Producer, where they worked until 2011. During their time at Tribune Media, they also worked as a Writer and Producer at The Walt Disney Studios from 2011 to 2013.

In 2013, Afua joined WGN-TV as a Supervising Producer for the WGN Morning News. During their tenure at WGN, they played a key role in the morning news production until 2019.

From 2019 to 2021, Afua held the position of Executive Producer of The Jam TV Show at Weigel Broadcasting Co. Afua S. oversaw all aspects of the broadcast, managed a team, and executed the creation of special programming. Additionally, they worked closely with the sales and marketing teams to integrate clients and develop station/ company-wide campaigns.

Currently, Afua serves as the Director of News & Local Content at Weigel Broadcasting Co., a position they assumed in March 2022. In this role, they oversee news and local content while focusing on developing new and engaging programming for WCIU-TV/CW26 Chicago and WMEU "The U".

Afua S. Owusu completed their high school education in Bolingbrook High School, where they earned a High School Diploma in General Studies in 2001. Afua S. then pursued further education at the College of DuPage from 2001 to 2003, specializing in Broadcast Journalism. Afterwards, from 2003 to 2005, Afua attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism with an emphasis in Production.
