Lukas Biewald is an experienced leader in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence, currently serving as the General Manager of Weights and Biases at CoreWeave since May 2025, focusing on developing tools for AI developers. Biewald has been an angel investor at L2K since January 2021, investing in various technology companies, including Runway.ai and Substack. Prior to these roles, Biewald founded and led Weights & Biases from January 2018 to October 2025, as well as Figure Eight, a machine learning training data labeling company, from December 2007 to March 2019, which was sold to Appen. Biewald's earlier experience includes significant roles at Powerset, Yahoo, and Stanford University AI Lab, contributing to advancements in search engine technologies and natural language processing. Biewald holds both a Master’s degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Stanford University.
