Senior Accountant

A well-established client, is looking for a Senior Accountant with excellent business acumen to be part of their executive management team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a local company that truly values the contributions of its staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting Functions
Generating monthly/annual financial statements and ad hoc financial analysis to support the business decisions of the company to include ongoing variance analysis (prior year vs. current year and budget vs. actual)
Managing the credit relationship and monthly collections of key accounts
Collection calls, payment terms, placing accounts on-hold
Working with third party collection firms
Developing annual operational budgets in consultation with the President
Managing the cash flow and forecasting functions
Assessing and documenting internal controls
Preparing monthly and year end working papers/account analysis (including the management of quarterly/annual inventory counts)
Managing the relationship with the external auditors, bankers, lawyers and insurance providers
Maintaining policy and procedure documentation for financial and accounting processes
Coordinating all governmental audits and compliance requirements such as licenses
Utilize existing tools, reports and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the President and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations
Supporting systems or project selections and their implementation from a strategic finance & internal control perspective
Oversight of all finance/accounting
Operational Functions
Human Resources Functions
Managing group insurance & benefit plans
Support for Hiring, training, mentoring
Coordinating annual employee reviews
Maintaining and administering all human resource policies, procedures and programs
Qualifications
Professional accounting designation (CPA CA, CPA CMA or CPA CGA) would be considered an asset.
3-5 years of financial control and management reporting experience.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
Ability to work well with existing staff under pressure, manage time effectively, and prioritize responsibilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
