George Zavala

George Zavala has a diverse work experience spanning different organizations and roles. George worked as the Western Regional Manager at Welcoming America, where they supported and grew the organization's local government and nonprofit membership in the Western United States. George was responsible for assisting network members in making local policy, program, and systems change that advances inclusion for immigrant and refugee communities.

Prior to their role at Welcoming America, George served as the Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Development at the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles. In this position, they managed diversity and inclusion programs, policies, trainings, and initiatives for 26 branches. George also played a key role in the development of the Immigration Services department and successfully launched the Department of Justice Recognition and Accreditation for direct legal services.
