John Paul Farmer

Chief Innovation Officer & President, WeLink Cities at WeLink

John Paul Farmer currently serves as President of WeLink Cities and Chief Innovation Officer at WeLink, a position held since February 2022. Prior experience includes roles as Chief Technology Officer for the City of New York from June 2019 to January 2022, and Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University from 2018 to 2020. John was also a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations between 2015 and 2020, and served as Director of Technology & Civic Innovation at Microsoft from 2014 to 2019. Earlier career highlights include positions as Senior Advisor for Innovation and Senior Advisor for Healthcare Reform at The White House from 2010 to 2014, and roles in investment management at Credit Suisse and Lehman Brothers from 2004 to 2010. Notably, John played as a shortstop in Minor League Baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves in 2001 and 2002. Academic qualifications include an AB in Government from Harvard University, an MBA in Finance & Economics from Columbia Business School, and studies at Rice University.
